Miss V Shores
Head of Academy (Interim)
I started my journey with Springwell Alternative Academies at Grantham as an Assistant Principal – Teaching and Learning.
I spent that time year gaining invaluable insights into the unique challenges and opportunities within this sector. This also included gaining valuable insights into qualifications and curriculum from EYFS up to KS4. This experience provided a solid foundation in developing strong pastoral care, implementing bespoke learning plans, and fostering a supportive community for students.
I was then offered the opportunity to develop my career by taking on the Head of Academy role at Mablethorpe after just one year. In this role I am responsible for the strategic direction of the school, staff development, and academic excellence which puts pupils directly at the centre of everything we do. The school moves forward everyday with a mission to empower students to overcome barriers and achieve their full potential.
Mrs L Hold
Deputy Head of Academy
Lily has been appointed as our Deputy Head of Academy, stepping up from her previous role as Assistant Principal for Teaching and Learning.
Lily began her teaching career in 2019, and the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic early on solidified her belief in the power of strong relationships with pupils and their families. After three years in mainstream education, Lily discovered her true passion lies in working with and championing the most vulnerable pupils in Lincolnshire, finding this the most rewarding part of her role.
Driven by a deep interest in how a child’s brain develops and adapts through their experiences, Lily is dedicated to creating positive and engaging learning opportunities. She is currently furthering her leadership skills by studying for her NPQSL (National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership) and has recently qualified as a Beach School Leader, adding an exciting, hands-on dimension to our curriculum.
At the heart of Lily’s philosophy is the commitment to building strong, positive relationships, ensuring that every pupil feels safe, valued, and heard in their educational environment.
Ms G Hunter
Assistant Principal: SENDCo
Gemma’s teaching career began in Grimsby in 2006, where she worked in some challenging settings, leading to a passion for making a difference for the most vulnerable pupils. A move to a private school in Dubai saw Gemma begin her leadership journey, which continued throughout a variety of primary schools in Lincolnshire.
As a Lead Literacy teacher, Gemma’s skill set was used to develop teachers across local networks as well as Early Careers Teachers. A later career move from primary to secondary saw Gemma quickly become a SENCO, able to support students with varying additional needs. Gemma joined Springwell as Assistant Principal and SENCO in September 2023, drawing on her vast experience of teaching in both primary and secondary settings with students needing alternative strategies to engage them in education. She now works closely with local schools to ensure that all students are able to access the provisions that they need.
Outside of school, Gemma is a keen skier, paddle boarder and explorer; often found adventuring in her camper van with dogs and children in tow!
